Blog Entry: People Watching by Sam Thorp at the Zombo Gallery Pittsburgh, PA Sept 11, 2009- People Watching: New Work by Sam Thorp at the Zombo Gallery in Lawrenceville September 11th. Announcing a new exhibition of work by Sam Thorp, emphasizing the amazing variety and diversity of people in our culture. The sketches turned prints explores fashion, attitudes, body types, gender representations, and sexuality each beautiful in its own way. The artwork makes use of surfaces and facades with an appearance of silkscreen prints recalling Warhol's portraits. Sam Thorp is an accomplished Pittsburgh artist with a passion for figure drawing.  Classically trained in drawing and anatomy, Thorp has had numerous showings in town including The Warhol Museum, Carnegie Museum of Art; as well as international shows in the United Kingdom and the Isle of Lesbos, Greece. Exhibition runs from: Friday September 11th and Saturday September 12th Gallery Opening: Friday 11th  of September 6pm- to 11pm The Zombo Gallery is not only Lawrenceville's newest gallery, but it is Pittsburgh home for hip lowbrow art. It is artwork that is rooted in 1950's and 60's pop culture and kitsch. It follows along the lines of San Francisco's Juxtapoz Magazine.
