Posted On 05/29/2011 18:47:04 by GrapevineTravelAdventures

Follow the Blue Brick Road to Cats and Castles in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico
Posted On 12/18/2010 18:36:29 by GrapevineTravelAdventures

Castillo San Felipe del Morro Approaching old San Juan by sea, time regresses about 500 years. Weather worn towers (garitas) top the seemingly endless brownish walls dominating the horizon. Looming over the city, the ancient battlements stand guard. The somewhat crumbly appearance deceives the eye, as they seem in fact quite solid.

Kitchen Storage for Bulk Purchasing
I love to purchase items like dried onions,  dried vegetable flakes,  gravy mix in bulk.  I tested various methods of storage and found that quart canning jars worked best.
Storing opened bags of pasta in the pantry does not work well.  I now use the large plastic "Folgers Coffee Cans",  just add labels to the outside.
What is your favorite kitchen pantry storage ideas ?... Read More

What not changing your Oil Cost
Posted On 07/16/2009 21:49:45 by Motorcarservice
It has been quite a busy month at the shop this week.  We have 6 cars with ruined engines in this month so far, and its only the 16th of the month.  Its a shame, but all would still be fine if the cars had proper maintenance.

The first, was a 2005 Jetta 2.5 litre 5 cylinder.  The owner went a couple thousand past the oil change interval, but worse than that, no one checked the oil since changed.  Car was quarts low on oil, and it ruined the engine inside.  It... Read More

New Fuel efficiency standards

President Obama sets new fuel efficiency Standards
Now, i am not real big on government regulations and prefer to let the free market determine what we drive and buy, but i really think without the government setting some mandatory goals in the past, Domestic auto manufactures would be in a much worse situation than they are now.  Opec plays games with our economy, raising oil prices by limiting supply.  Look at the 4.00 plus per gallon we paid last summer for fuel. The 1,300 co... Read More

Cap and Trade Costs RevealedApril 09, 2009

Cap and Trade is coming in the form of a national energy tax. House Leader John Boehner calls it an "irresponsible and dangerous economic policy."
The Democrats' national energy tax will "double" costs for coal dependent states, according to the New York Times.
President Obama has admitted this will be a bearing on taxpayers, reversing his promise not to raise taxes on those who make less than $200,000 a year. It could cos... Read More

Bankruptcy is Economic Stimulus
Posted On 03/23/2009 11:26:29 by Conservative_Views
Bankruptcy is Economic Stimulus   The distraction on Capitol Hill this week has to do with the jackpot bonuses that executives at AIG recently received.  The argument is over a relative drop in the bucket.  The total amount of bonuses given out was $165 million.  The government has put $170 billion into AIG so far.  Many now are demanding we get this money back.   We ought to be spending our time and effort doing something more worthwhile, like figuring out how...
