“Celebrate and Share" Announces Pittsburgh's 2010 Women of Achievement Honorees
Pittsburgh, PA – January 22, 2010 Twenty-one of Pittsburgh's most notable women were honored for their accomplishments and contributions to the city of Pittsburgh at the 5th Annual Celebrate & Share, Women of Achievement Awards Dinner. A veritable who's who of more than 350 people will gathered at the Omni William Penn Hotel on Wednesday, March 3 to honor “Women of Achievement” from our region, and raise funds for Pittsburgh based charity, Cribs for Kids® Infant Safe Sleep Initiative.
District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala, Jr. and his wife Mary Zappala returned to Chair and underwrote this annual event along with Presenting Sponsor Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. The Women of Achievement awards is traditionally held every March in observance of Women's History Month. Cross Blue Shield. Every $50 raised at the event will provide a crib for a baby in need and will provide safe sleep education for that baby's family in an effort to reduce the risk of SIDS and accidental suffocation. 2010 Honorees include:

Celebrate & Share, an organization founded by Bonnie DiCarlo and JoAnn R. Forrester in 2002, features the achievements of women, and raises funds for organizations which focus on the needs of women and children in the community. The Women of Achievement Awards Dinner was established to bring attention to the city of Pittsburgh in recognition of Women's History Month and to honor the women of Pittsburgh who contribute so much to our community. Since 2004 Celebrate & Share have hosted events honoring nearly 100 prominent women and raised more than $100,000.
Cribs for Kids® was founded in 1998 in Pittsburgh by Allegheny County District Attorney and Cribs for Kids® Advisory Board Chairman, Stephen A. Zappala Jr.; SIDS of PA / Cribs for Kids® Executive Director, Judith Bannon; the late Mayor Bob O'Connor and the late Commander Gwen Elliott. Since then, the program has networked throughout Pennsylvania and has grown to 250 partners in 45 states. Judy Bannon, with her staff and volunteers, educate the community about reducing SIDS through providing cribs for infants and educating parents about practicing safe sleep for their babies. Since the beginning of the campaign that recommends infants sleep on their backs – the “Back to Sleep” campaign – the incidence of SIDS has been reduced by fifty percent.
