2011 Childrens Variety Valentines Dance

2011 Children's Valentine's Dance

On February 5, 2011 Variety hosted its first annual Children's Valentine's Day Dance at the Greater Pittsburgh Masonic Center.  Over 120 Variety family members were in attendance for this special event.

Variety' kids dressed up for an afternoon of dancing to the tunes of our DJ Jack Forsythe, creating fun arts and crafts, face painting, and having their family photos taken in front of Variety's logo backdrop created by Kevin Wilson.  Families were asked to bring two dozen cookies with them to the party for our very own special “cookie” table.  Cookies were received in all shapes and sizes including pink and red heart cookies and black and gold Steeler's cookies.  Of course, everyone joined in to wish our hometown Pittsburgh Steeler's much luck in their 7th return to the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Young ladies from a Robert Morris University sorority joined women from the Junior League of Pittsburgh and Clearview Federal Union to help with arts and crafts, serving of lunch and dances that included the Hokey Pokey, Macarena, and the infamous “chicken dance.”  olHokey H

DJ Jack Forsythe spun music from oldies' to modern day songs from Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and others!

The catered lunch from Atria's Restaurant in the South Hills was delicious and consisted of chicken fingers, bow-tie macaroni and cheese, applesauce and their special baked chips.

Newly elected Board President Mike Schneck and his family attended and addressed our families and kids.  In addition, three members from Variety's Development Advisory Committee joined in the fun:  Julene Vidic, Todd Whiteman, and Vincent Johnson.
