A Benefit for the Mt Lebanon Veterans Memorial
Rocky and Jan Bleier Welcome you to ...
The Event
A Benefit for the Mt Lebanon Veterans Memorial Thursday, March 10th, 2011 Andora Restaurant
WHAT IS THE MT. LEBANON VETERANS MEMORIAL? The Mt. Lebanon Veterans Memorial will be built on Morgan Drive at the entrance to Mt. Lebanon Park. It will honor the service and sacrifice of all Mt. Lebanon veterans and their families. The memorial also will make special note of those who gave their lives in the service of our country. HOW WAS THE DESIGN SELECTED? A committee of residents appointed by the Mt. Lebanon Commission selected the design by the architecture firm Loysen Kreuthmeier after evaluating many proposals. The memorial's white marble stones, representing the veterans' contributions, radiate outward into the landscape as a reminder of those who served far from home. The centerpiece of the memorial will be a single lighted figure symbolizing freedom, and the American flag. The memorial will be visible to passersby and also will offer an enclosed area with seating for quiet reflection.HOW MUCH WILL THE MEMORIAL COST? The memorial will cost $180,000. This includes construction costs and a legacy trust that will enable the community to maintain the memorial and update it as needed. The Mt. Lebanon Commission and local veterans groups support this plan enthusiastically, but your help is needed to fund it. WHAT IS THE TIMELINE FOR THE PROJECT? Recognizing the contributions of World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War heroes is long overdue and time is of the essence now more than ever. We plan to complete the fundraising and break ground by Memorial Day 2011.HOW CAN I HELP? Please make a tax-deductible contribution (check with your tax advisor) to the Mt. Lebanon Veterans Memorial and spread the word about this worthwhile project, which will honor Mt. Lebanon veterans of all wars and serve as a powerful reminder to our community of the price paid for freedom. You will receive a receipt for your contribution of $250 or more. All contributions made by check or credit card will be acknowledged in Mt. Lebanon Magazine. Contributions of $1000 or more will be acknowledged on a permanent plaque.
