Bill and Jody Welge and all their good friends in Sewickley got
together Friday evening in the Welge's spectacular full suspension BarN
and literally raised Hell for Rinti!
Sweet Marcy Brown and the The Sweaty Betty Blues Band with the
spectacular blues guitar of Rich McDonough and Bob Banerjee (yes, he CAN
play blues violin) provided the main entertainment along with guest
appearances by Mike Gallagher, Santa and Mrs Claus (Casey and Dan
Deely), harmonies by Lindsay Smith, and a great blues vocalist whose
name I can't recall (damn those brain cells). Someone help me on this
one, please, the man was amazing.
Everyone was in the mood from the music and “spirits”, spurred on by
some spectacular costumes. Even Santa and Mrs. Claus made the scene with
their elves in tow. Brian Sacco revealed his hidden artistic talents
with a fabulous display of his sculptures and paintings, all offered in a
silent auction which has yet to be tallied.
Prepaid donations and the door totaled $6,156. It is expected that the
auction results will be an additional $1,700 once tallied.
Special thanks to Fred Wunder for keeping this idea alive, Paul
McMillian for the amazing barbecue, Kitty and Kathleen for the
decorations and sweets, and Lindsay and Rich for their “special
contributions”.
As one guest musician after another took the stage, one mesmerized BarN
virgin was heard to ask, “Does everybody here play an instrument and
sing?” Yes, Virginia, even Santa!
Thanks to one and all.
