Attack Theatre presents THE DIRTY BALL

The Dirty Ballis back for it's third year – and promises more down and dirty goodtimes as Attack Theatre takes Pittsburgh performance nightlife by stormwith an outrageous and fabulously fun event. Don't miss The Dirty Ball on Saturday, April 12, 2008, in the Strip District at 25th Street and Smallman Street.

Theevening features Attack Theatre's unique high voltage danceperformances - steel catwalks, elevated stages, and cozy corners allwithin an environment that is part Thunderdomeand part loft party, making for an interactive adventure for all. Danceto the sounds of DJ Soy Sos and Justin Hopper of PANDEMIC or watch theaction as company members and special guests create an ever-changingvisual and kinetic landscape.

Thisevening includes over 20 performers, interactive art installations, world premiere dances and special guests all to guide, cajole andencourage guests to become part of the action.

Activitiesand performances include: Attack Theatre premiere of “Dirty Burt'sWestern Revue”, a tongue in cheek homage to the by- gone revue withcowboys and cowgirls, leather and leatherettes and a special travelingmedicine show that promises to “cure what ails ya,”; the Dirty SecretsConfessional; and the interactive collection of installations, “If onlyI could…” This evening is about watching, doing and simply enjoying thecamaraderie of 600 of your closest friends at the hottest party of theyear.

AttackTheatre's Producing Artistic Director, Peter Kope, acknowledges the“naughty” nature of the event, “we always wanted to revisit andreinvent the concept of a ‘gala.' We've all been to these things thatare very wonderful but end up being a bunch of people sitting at atable and making uncomfortable small talk. So, The Dirty Ball isdesigned to feature dance that is high energy and fun and is an eveningthat gives the audience a chance to get involved. It can be as simpleas dancing to the DJ's or writing words on a wall or whatever. We tryto bring out the performer in all of us.”

Michelede la Reza, Managing Artistic Director adds, “we believe that dance isan essential part of life. We also think that the art of dance needs tobe available, accessible and relevant so The Dirty Ball is our attemptto build support for the company and invite people into a creative, energetic and non-judgmental environment.”

Last year's revelers called The Dirty Ball“...the most fun I've had with my clothes on!” “...the party of theyear... the hippest event in town;” “...a filthy good time;” and “agreat show that just seems to appear out of nowhere.”

Thisyear's Honoree is Pittsburgh's very generous (and ever elusive)Anonymous Donor for his/her significant and adventurous support ofPittsburgh's art and culture. He/she has not only supported AttackTheatre's work, but also numerous arts organizations and individualartists.

Incelebration of one of Pittsburgh's best-kept secrets (The AnonymousDonor), Attack Theatre has devised opportunities for guests to exploreanonymity through a series of activities that fall under the banner of“If only I could…” These activities include video shape shifting, theDirty Secrets Confessional, and the ever-popular Dirty Words Wall.

Anythinggoes attire: Classy to sassy, flashy to trashy – wear your cocktaildress, leisure suit, dirty jeans, leather pants, take your best shot atanonymity and use your imagination!
