The Dr. John E. Murray Jr. Award for Academic Leadership and Excellence wasawarded by Amen Corner Charities to Dr. Randy Pausch of Carnegie Mellon University. The event was held at the Pittsburgh Athletic Association with 100 plus in attendance. Emcee for the awards event was WTAE-TV Anchor, Sally Wiggin.Dr. Stanley Marks presented the Murray award to Randy Bryant of Carnegie Mellon University, on behalf of Dr. Pausch. Jenna Yoder, University of Pittsburgh, and Robert Fuchs, Robert Morris University, received the 2008 Mayor Bob O'Connor scholarship awards from Amen Corner Charities,as presented by Corey O'Connor. In attendance was Father Terry O'Connor who gave the invocation. Previous Murray award recipients in attendance were Dr. Stanley Marks and Dr. Thomas Starzl. Robert Fragasso, president of Amen Corner Charities, presided at the podium, assisted by event co-chairs Debra Barnisin-Lange and Thomas J. McCaffrey.
