The Mattress Factory's Urban Garden Party 2008

If Marie Antoinette had an iPod, what type of music would she listento? And what kind of delicacies would be on the menu at a Palace ofVersailles soirée in 2008?

These questions will be decadentlyanswered on June 13, as the Mattress Factory presents the 2008 UrbanGarden Party. To honor Friday the 13's superstitious origin in 18thcentury France, this year's fête will feature guillotines, powderedwigs, bustiers and extravagant, over-the-top decor. Let them eat cake!

Eachyear, the Mattress Factory's Urban Garden Party becomes the talk of thetown as more than 1,000 attendees turn out to help support the museum'smission in a festive, celebratory atmosphere. As the Mattress Factory'sprimary annual fund raising event, the event is vital to theorganization's programming and has helped the museum push the artisticenvelope for more than three
decades.

The 2008 Urban GardenParty will take place from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM on Friday, June 13. AVIP Pre-Party, hosted by Bob Sendall of All in Good Taste Productions

and featuring a special performance by Phat Man Dee, will begin at 6:00 PM.

Entertainmentfor the evening includes strolling musicians (violin and accordion),performances by the Pittsburgh Opera Theatre and Heather Mallak, avideo projection from Mule Kicked (PGH Filmmakers), ice sculptures anda silent auction to benefit Mattress Factory programs.

Costumesare optional, but encouraged. Tickets for the Urban Garden Party are$85 for non-members and $70 for members. VIP tickets are $200(non-members) and $175 (members).
