Candy Dreams Of Spacemen
Corey LeChat's head is not just in the clouds, it’s in the
stratosphere, mesosphere, through the thermosphere and exosphere and
toward galaxies and dimensions far beyond.

With his lens trainedon rocket ships and astronauts, Corey's latest photographic serieslaunches the viewer on a journey through space and time.

Thecasual view captures unbelievable things, like attack ships on fire offthe shoulder of Orion or even C-beams glittering in the dark near theTannhauser gate.

Thankfully these moments are not lost in time, but preserved for the entire cosmos to see (and then perhaps to alsodream of spacemen).

Corey LeChat's latest series of 35 mm color photographs materializes at
Moxie Dada, August 9 through 30.

Theopening reception was held Saturday, August 9 from 6-9 pm, featuredmusic from out of this world including an original theramin scorecomposed and performed by the artist.

Space snacks and Tang were provided for attendees.

Corey LeChat¹s singular photographic vision has been attracting
attention in the Pittsburgh arts scene since he began showing his work
here in 1992.

LeChat has developed a unique, self-taught style, marked by organically
achieved effects of light and color that are often mistaken to be the
result of computer enhancement. His distinctive approach to still
photography showcases unusual choice of illumination and color to give
his pieces a vivid, illustrative quality.

LeChat's photographic works have been exhibited at various events and
galleries, including The Three Rivers Arts Festival, Silver Eye Center
for Photography, Penn Gallery, Pittsburgh Filmmakers, Fe Gallery,
Digging Pitt and the Carnegie Museum of Pittsburgh. Outside of
Pittsburgh, he has shown in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Prague and
Japan. He has also donated his photos to various charitable projects
over the years, including The Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force and benefits
for Cerebral Palsy. He has sold hundreds of photographs in the
Pittsburgh area alone and has been recognized with purchase awards from
Four Systems as well as Westinghouse.

LeChat's work has even caught the attention of Hollywood. In the last
few years, several film projects have featured his photography,
including Margaret Cho and Alan Cummings¹ Bam Bam and Celeste (2005) and
the 2004 Sundance Film Festival selection Little Black Boot.
