Pittsburgh Fashion Story celebrates 5th year of Pittsburgh Fashion helping children.
On Friday, September 26th, the Fifth Annual Pittsburgh Fashion Story fashion show and fundraising event was held at J. Verno Studios on the South Side ay 7pm. The show benefits Partners For Quality, an organization which helps children with emotional health challenges in family settings
This year, the featured boutiques are Chickdowntown Boutique showing the latest fashion for woman and Charles Spiegel for Men. Brett James Salon featured high fashion Hair and Makeup looks. Sonni Abatta, KDKA-TV2 was the emcee.
The show is the brainchild of co-chairmen John Lamberson and Douglas Tjelmeland who recalls, "John and I wanted to create a unique charity event that involved the community and gave back to the community. Having been involved in the fashion and entertainment industry in Milan, Paris and New York since 1989, I suggested a runway event that had the same sofistication, elegance and refinement that the big markets had and that Pittsburgh would embrace. In September, 2004, A Pittsburgh Fashion Story was born. The first show was even a hit after a postponement due to Hurricane Ivan. Who involved could ever forget that first show which is now remembered as the Flood Show! Our Committee has tackled many changes since the show's inception.
The Fifth Annual Pittsburgh Fashion Story had more than 300 guests and supporters from the fashion, art and non-profit communities. "This year's story presented a unique fashion concept that explained the "story of fashion" and how designers are influenced by history, politics, art and culture" said Tara Rieland, the show's producer.
