Pittsburgh, PA Oct. 2, 2010- The artwork of Sam Thorp showcased at Pittsburgh GLCC.
The GLCC is showcasing the artwork of local artist, Sam Thorp in the new downtown space. This new exhibition will feature paintings, drawing, and prints of wonderful arabesque line work in bright high-key colors. Thorp's work is inspired by the incredible diversity of the community, each subject searching out and finding one's one unique gift. This would include the conventional blending in to typical stereotypes to outlandish individuality; with variations of nationality, gender expression and body types.
Exhibition runs from: Friday October 2nd to October 31.
Gallery Opening: Friday October 2nd 5pm- to 9pm
Sam Thorp has been exhibiting artwork professionally around the world since the age of 16, with collectors around the world including the UK, Greece and Australia. Sam Thorp is classically trained in anatomy and fine art but experiments in modern technology to supplement traditional image making. Sam's subject matter is rooted in western tradition of figure studies with a deep interest in psychology and the personality of the models. The result is not a mere design or hunks of flesh but an expression of the living breathing uniqueness of each person.
Pittsburgh Gay & Lesbian Community Center provides the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) individuals, their families and supporters in Western Pennsylvania with resources and opportunities to promote visibility, understanding and equality within the LGBT communities and the community-at-large. The GLCC will work toward these goals through education, social support, networking and advocacy.
